As we head into the 2025 fantasy football season, Aaron Rodgers, now 41 years old, is set to don the Pittsburgh Steelers jersey, marking a significant change in his NFL journey. After a lackluster 2024 season with the New York Jets, where he ranked 25th among qualifying quarterbacks in dropback success rate and had the lowest adjusted yards per attempt of his career, Rodgers is looking to rebound in what he has hinted will be his final NFL season.

Rodgers' move to the Steelers introduces him to an offense that is historically run-heavy under the guidance of Coach Arthur Smith. This contrasts sharply with the pass-heavy offenses he was accustomed to in Green Bay and, to some extent, in New York. The Steelers ranked 29th in pass rate last season, calling runs on nearly 55% of their plays post-Week 7. While Rodgers' presence might encourage more passing, the team's overall strategy is unlikely to shift dramatically.

Despite the challenges posed by the Steelers' run-oriented scheme, Rodgers still brings a wealth of experience and stability to the quarterback position. However, his fantasy value is expected to be muted compared to his prime years. In 2024, Rodgers averaged 18.4 points per game in 6-point-per-passing-TD leagues, but this was achieved with a high volume of pass attempts that he won't replicate in Pittsburgh. As such, he is more suitable for Superflex or two-QB leagues rather than being a reliable starter in one-QB leagues.

The receiving corps Rodgers will be working with is also a concern. While D.K. Metcalf is a standout, the rest of the wide receiver unit is questionable, with young athletes like Calvin Austin and Roman Wilson offering some upside but lacking consistency. Tight ends Pat Freiermuth and Darnell Washington provide reliable but unexciting options. With these factors in mind, Rodgers is best viewed as a streamer in one-QB leagues, particularly in favorable matchups like the Week 1 game against his former team, the Jets.
