Aaron Rodgers

Pittsburgh Steelers

Season Preview

Aaron Rodgers enters the 2026 fantasy season as the Steelers’ likely starting quarterback after officially returning to Pittsburgh on a one-year deal, and reports say he plans to make 2026 his final NFL season. That gives fantasy managers a pretty clear picture: Rodgers has a stable starting job, but he is now a low-upside, veteran QB whose value depends more on efficiency and touchdown volume than on any big rushing contribution.

The 2025 version of Rodgers was useful in real football, but only modest in fantasy, finishing around QB18 and averaging 14.6 fantasy points per game. He posted 3,322 passing yards, 23 to 24 touchdowns depending on the source, and very little rushing production, which is the main reason his ceiling remains limited. Fantasy analysts describing him this spring generally place him in the QB15–20 range at best, with some rankings even pushing him closer to QB30 because of his age and shrinking downfield profile.

The biggest reason for optimism is the environment around him. Pittsburgh appears intent on giving him more help at wide receiver, with recent reporting pointing to additions such as DK Metcalf and other receiving talent, while Rodgers also reunites with Mike McCarthy, his longtime former head coach from Green Bay. That combination could make the offense more efficient and more pass-friendly, which matters for a quarterback who no longer wins fantasy leagues with volume rushing or huge weekly spike plays.

For fantasy drafting, Rodgers is best viewed as a safe backup quarterback in 1QB leagues and a solid, low-risk option in superflex or 2QB formats. If you want stability, he offers a reasonable floor because he should start and avoid drastic weekly collapse, but if you need upside, there are younger quarterbacks with far more ceiling. The most realistic 2026 outcome is a usable veteran season with modest passing production, not a return to top-tier fantasy QB status.
