Brock Purdy
San Francisco 49ers
Season Preview
Brock Purdy enters the 2025 fantasy football season as a reliable QB1 option, building on his strong performances from the past two years where he finished as a top-10 fantasy quarterback. Last season, he showcased notable rushing ability, ranking 11th in rushing yards and seventh in rushing touchdowns among quarterbacks. His efficiency was impressive, ranking third in yards per attempt and ninth in Completion Percentage Over Expected (CPOE), which highlights his accuracy and decision-making under pressure. These factors make Purdy a solid foundation for fantasy teams looking for consistency at the quarterback position.
The 49ers offense around Purdy remains potent, although there are some uncertainties with his receiving corps. Brandon Aiyuk is recovering from an ACL reconstruction and might be slow to start the season, which could limit some immediate upside. However, Purdy still has weapons in Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle, Ricky Pearsall, and Jauan Jennings to target. McCaffrey’s ability as a dual-threat back is crucial to keep the offense dynamic, but his health is always a key factor to monitor. If the 49ers’ defense falters during the season, the team may rely more on Purdy's arm, potentially boosting his fantasy output through increased passing attempts.
From a fantasy strategy perspective, Purdy is viewed as a safe, late-round quarterback pick. Analysts highlight that only elite QBs like Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, and Jalen Hurts have more 20-plus fantasy point games than Purdy in recent seasons. This makes him an excellent choice as a QB2 or even a low-risk QB1 on many fantasy rosters. While he may not consistently hit the 20+ point mark weekly, his stability and efficiency make him a valuable asset who can outperform his typical ADP around QB11 or later.
Injuries to teammates and roster changes do place some variables on Purdy's ceiling this year. The 49ers lost Deebo Samuel Sr., and with Aiyuk’s slow recovery, the receiving options are somewhat unsettled. Nonetheless, the offensive line and skill players around him are solid enough for Purdy to maintain his high floor. With a healthy McCaffrey and Kittle leading the charge, Purdy’s combination of rushing ability and efficient throwing should keep him among the top fantasy QBs. Overall, he’s a confident pick with a potentially better floor than many QBs ranked around him heading into the 2025 fantasy season.
