In his rookie year, he posted 617 scrimmage yards and seven touchdowns despite missing nine games with an ankle fracture, and he looked good enough in his stretch as the Giants’ lead back that analysts still view him as a potential weekly difference-maker if he stays on the field.

The biggest issue in his profile is durability, not talent. FantasyPros notes that he suffered a severe ankle/fibula fracture with ligament damage in Week 8 last season, but also reports that he has been participating in positional drills during OTAs and continues to be expected back for Week 1. That is an important positive for his 2026 outlook, because there is no indication from the available recent reports that he was traded, cut, or lost his roster spot, and SI says the Giants did not make offseason moves that would meaningfully hurt his projected workload.

From a fantasy perspective, Skattebo’s appeal is simple: when healthy, he should get the ball a lot. During Weeks 2-7, FantasyPros says he averaged 19.5 touches and 96.3 total yards per game as the RB8 in fantasy points per game, which supports the idea that his range of outcomes includes steady RB2 production with RB1 spikes if the touchdowns follow. He also earned strong efficiency marks in tackle-breaking, yards after contact, and receiving metrics, which gives him multiple ways to score in fantasy even if the Giants’ offense is not elite.

For 2026 drafts, Skattebo looks best as a volume-driven RB2 with real upside, especially if he is available in a range where drafters are already comfortable with some injury risk. Some projections are modest, while others are more aggressive, but the common thread is that his workload could be large enough to matter right away if his ankle holds up. If you want a running back who can outplay his draft slot, Skattebo is a strong target; if you prefer lower injury volatility, he is still a player to approach carefully because his violent running style is part of both his fantasy appeal and his risk.
