WR

Carnell Tate

Tennessee Titans

Season Preview

Carnell Tate enters the 2026 fantasy football season as one of the more appealing rookie wide receiver targets, and the biggest reason is draft capital: Tennessee selected him No. 4 overall, which usually signals an immediate role and long-term investment from the team. He also lands in an offense led by second-year quarterback Cam Ward, and multiple recent previews describe Tate as a potential No. 1 receiver for the Titans with immediate fantasy upside.

The upside case is built on Tate’s college production and skill set. He closed his final season at Ohio State with 51 catches for 875 yards and 9 touchdowns in 11 games, while showing strong efficiency metrics, excellent contested-catch ability, and the kind of route-running polish that tends to translate quickly. Recent analysis also notes that he did not have a drop credited on 66 targets and that he was highly effective against man coverage, which reinforces the idea that he can earn targets right away even if he is not the fastest receiver in the class.

The caution for fantasy managers is opportunity, not talent. Tennessee already has other receivers in the mix, including Calvin Ridley and Wan’Dale Robinson, and several recent analysts point out that the Titans may spread targets around early rather than force-feed Tate immediately. That makes him more of a WR3/FLEX option in redraft leagues to start the season, with a clearer path to weekly starter value later if his role expands or if he becomes the top target in the offense.

For 2026 fantasy leagues, Tate is the kind of rookie who is worth drafting for both ceiling and growth. The most reasonable projection range from recent sources lands around mid-60s catches, roughly 850 to 900 receiving yards, and about 4 to 5 touchdowns, which is solid rookie production with room to beat expectations if the Titans lean into his vertical ability and his chemistry with Ward develops quickly. He is better viewed as a player you want on your roster than one you need to rely on immediately every week.
