TE

Chigoziem Okonkwo

Washington Commanders

Season Preview

Chigoziem Okonkwo enters the 2026 fantasy season with a much better setup than he had in Tennessee, after signing a three-year deal with Washington and joining a Commanders offense that should give him more efficient quarterback play from Jayden Daniels. The move is the biggest reason his outlook has improved, because Washington is thin beyond Terry McLaurin and Okonkwo should immediately be in the mix for meaningful targets.

From a fantasy standpoint, Okonkwo is still more of a sleeper than a safe weekly starter. He has shown steady but not explosive production over the last three seasons, with 54, 52, and 56 catches, and he has never topped three touchdowns in a year. FantasyPros notes that even with a career-high 560 receiving yards in 2025, his 14.9% target share in Tennessee suggests he has not yet proven he can command true feature usage at tight end.

The upside case is that Washington could finally unlock a more efficient version of his game. A better passing environment, a thinner target tree, and the likelihood that he becomes one of Daniels’ top secondary options could make him a useful late-round tight end, especially in formats that reward reception volume. That said, the same FantasyPros outlook warns that it would be “reckless” to rely on him as a fantasy starter, which is fair given his modest touchdown track record and the fact that his breakout signs have been limited so far.

For 2026 drafts, Okonkwo looks like a strong TE2 with streaming upside and a realistic chance to beat that price if the Commanders usage is as favorable as it looks on paper. He is the kind of player you can target late if you want upside without spending much, but you should not pass on a more established tight end expecting him to become a guaranteed every-week difference-maker.
