WR

Chris Olave

New Orleans Saints

Season Preview

Chris Olave enters the 2026 fantasy football season looking like a strong fantasy WR1 candidate, with most recent analysis placing him in the borderline top-10 range at the position and worth a third-round pick in PPR leagues. The biggest reason for the optimism is that he just delivered the kind of all-around season managers had been waiting for, with career-best production and a major spike in touchdowns, and he clearly benefited from the midseason quarterback switch to Tyler Shough, finishing as a top-tier receiver in games Shough started.

The Saints’ passing game still appears built around Olave as the clear No. 1 option, but his target share may be a little less overwhelming than last year because rookie Jordyn Tyson has been added to the mix. That said, the consensus view is that Tyson should be more of a complementary piece than a threat to overtake Olave, and the new competition could even help Olave’s efficiency by forcing defenses to pay attention elsewhere.

There is some injury risk to consider, because Olave’s concussion history remains part of his profile and makes him a slightly riskier bet than the typical WR1. Even so, recent fantasy analysis does not view that as a reason to fade him heavily, especially since he has shown enough volume and production to justify a high-end role when healthy.

The overall fantasy outlook is friendly: Olave projects as a reliable weekly starter with WR1 upside and a strong floor, especially in formats that reward catches. If you’re drafting in 2026, he belongs in the conversation with the safer second-tier elite receivers, and the main question is not whether he can produce, but whether his touchdown rate stays near last year’s level and whether the added target competition trims just enough volume to move him slightly closer to the WR8-WR14 range.
