Chuba Hubbard

Carolina Panthers

Season Preview

Chuba Hubbard enters the 2025 fantasy football season coming off a breakout 2024 campaign where he ranked as a top-15 fantasy running back, finishing around RB12-RB13 in half-PPR formats. He showcased impressive efficiency with 4.8 yards per carry and was among the league leaders in yards after contact and missed tackles forced. Hubbard’s strong workload was a key factor—he commanded the early-down rushing role and was heavily involved in goal-line carries, proving to be a physical and explosive runner.

Despite his strong finish, Hubbard’s role for 2025 appears less secure due to the Panthers adding rookie Trevor Etienne and veteran Rico Dowdle in the offseason. These additions are expected to create a committee backfield, with Hubbard likely retaining most early-down and red zone rushing opportunities but sharing passing-down and receiving work. His receiving efficiency last year was notably low despite catching a fair number of passes, so some of those targets might be redirected to his new teammates. This potentially caps his overall upside and projects him more as a low-end RB2 or high-end RB3 in fantasy drafts this year.

Injury concerns loomed last year but ended up working in Hubbard’s favor for fantasy production. Jonathon Brooks, the expected lead-back competitor, missed significant time due to an ACL re-injury and won’t be a factor early this season. This strengthens Hubbard’s immediate fantasy security, especially in the early weeks. While the Carolina offense remains optimistic under coach Dave Canales and quarterback Bryce Young, Hubbard’s fantasy ceiling largely depends on how much the backfield committee eats into his volume and how effectively he handles passing-down duties.

Considering these factors, Hubbard deserves respect as a reliable, efficient runner with proven toughness and upside for touchdown volume, but the evolving backfield limits his draft appeal. Fantasy managers should view Hubbard as a solid mid-round pick for RB2 upside with some risk of volume dilution. Staying aware of roles and snap shares in early 2025 will be key to maximizing his value. Given the competition and his receiving limitations, drafting him with the expectation of consistent RB1 production may be optimistic, but he remains a valuable asset in many formats if selected at the right price.
