Courtland Sutton

Denver Broncos

Season Preview

Courtland Sutton enters the 2025 fantasy football season as the undeniable alpha receiver for the Denver Broncos. At age 30, he secured a major vote of confidence with a lucrative four-year, $92 million contract extension that guarantees $41 million, showing the team's commitment to him as their primary receiving threat. Sutton's 2024 season was a standout, as he caught 81 passes for over 1,080 yards and eight touchdowns, averaging a strong 14.1 PPR points per game. His chemistry with quarterback Bo Nix has only strengthened, especially in the latter half of last season when Sutton climbed to 18.2 PPR points per game over the final 10 outings.

Despite Sutton's clear top-receiver status, the Broncos have added some new weapons that could eat into his target share in 2025. Tight end Evan Engram, rookie wideout Pat Bryant, and Marvin Mims, among others, are all expected to see more involvement in the passing game. Additionally, the backfield has improved with the additions of RJ Harvey and JK Dobbins, potentially giving opposing defenses more to respect and slightly spreading out offensive opportunities. However, Sutton's size, route-running, and rapport with Nix make him the central piece of the offense and a reliable safety net, particularly on intermediate and deep routes where he excelled in air yards last year.

From a fantasy perspective, Sutton is projected as a strong WR2, possibly flirting with the lower end of WR1 territory depending on Broncos' offensive pacing and target distribution. Most experts have he rated roughly around 12th at wide receiver with a draft ADP in the fourth or fifth round, making him a compelling value pick given his potential to outperform these spots thanks to his touchdown upside and target volume. That said, monitoring his usage closely during the season start will be key to adjusting expectations, especially with the addition of Engram and other receivers who may siphon targets in the red zone or underneath.

On the injury front, Sutton has been fully healthy heading into 2025, having recovered well from his 2020 ACL injury that derailed his earlier trajectory. With no recent injury concerns reported, the biggest questions for Sutton will revolve around how the Broncos manage their passing game distribution and if Bo Nix can maintain his improved quarterback play that elevated Sutton's fantasy value last year. For fantasy managers, Sutton remains a dependable and confident pick in redraft and keeper leagues, a seasoned veteran who should deliver consistent volume and scoring opportunities all season long.
