D’Andre Swift enters the 2026 fantasy football season as a useful, steady RB2 with a clear path to weekly volume, but not quite the kind of back you draft for elite upside. He remained productive in 2025 for Chicago, finishing with 1,386 scrimmage yards and 10 touchdowns across 16 games, and FantasyData lists him as the preseason RB21 in 2026 PPR formats. FantasyPros also points to another mid-range RB2 season, projecting usable but not spectacular fantasy production.

The biggest reason to feel good about Swift is that he still appears to be the Bears’ lead runner, and he has already shown he can produce efficiently in Ben Johnson’s offense. FantasyPros notes that he bounced back from a poor 2024 by ranking well in explosive run rate and rushing success rate, while Sports Ethos describes him as a player who can still return value even if the workload is not always pretty. In simpler fantasy terms, Swift’s role keeps him in weekly lineups, especially in PPR and half-PPR leagues where his receiving work adds a useful floor.

The concern is that his grip on the backfield may not be as secure as it was in past seasons. SI notes that Swift is entering his second year with the Bears and that rookie Kyle Monangai is expected to cut into the workload, while also describing Swift as the team’s RB1 “for the time being.” That makes Swift more sensitive than some other RB2s to game script, efficiency swings, and any reduction in touches, which is why his fantasy value looks safer than exciting.

For 2026 drafts, Swift profiles best as a player you take when you want reliable RB2 numbers without paying for a true difference-maker. If he holds onto most of the backfield work, he has a realistic path to another top-20 finish, but the presence of Monangai lowers the odds of a true breakout. The best approach is to value him as a stable starter rather than a player to aggressively chase above market price.
