Daniel Jones enters the 2026 fantasy season as the Colts’ starter and the biggest storyline is health, not role. He re-signed with Indianapolis on a two-year deal worth $88 million with incentives that can push it to $100 million, and after missing the end of 2025 with a torn Achilles, he has been steadily working back with the goal of being ready for Week 1.

The encouraging news is that his recovery appears ahead of schedule. Jones said in late July that he was fully cleared for training camp and expected to be a full participant in 11-on-11 drills, and multiple reports confirmed he planned to practice in full at camp after being limited earlier in the offseason. That matters a lot for fantasy because an Achilles injury can sap mobility, and Jones’ rushing ability has always been a meaningful part of his value.

From a fantasy standpoint, Jones profiles as a low-end QB2 with some upside if his legs are back and the Colts’ offense clicks. He is not being drafted as a must-start difference-maker, but he can be useful in superflex formats or as a late-round quarterback if you want stability from a player who should have a secure starting job and a full season in the same system. If he looks fully healthy in August, he becomes more interesting as a streaming option because his rushing gives him a higher weekly ceiling than a statuesque pocket passer.

The risk is obvious: recovery from an Achilles injury is still a major variable, and even if Jones is active in Week 1, the Colts could manage his workload early. That makes him a sensible draft-and-watch quarterback rather than a player to build around in one-QB leagues. If the movement looks sharp and the rushing returns, he can outperform his cost; if not, he is more likely to settle in as a matchup-based fantasy option than a consistent starter.
