Kelly's uptempo pace could bring an exciting dynamic, but it also means Smith will need to adapt quickly to a new playbook and a significantly different receiving corps compared to his time with the Seahawks.

Smith's fantasy production in recent years has been inconsistent, particularly after his standout 2022 season. In 2023 and 2024, he had limited games with notable fantasy points, with only six games in 2024 and five in 2023 where he scored at least 20 fantasy points in six-point-per-passing leagues. This inconsistency, coupled with the new team and offense, suggests that fantasy managers should temper their expectations. Smith is unlikely to recapture the fantasy heights of 2022, especially with the Raiders' focus on building their offense through the run game, highlighted by the first-round draft pick of running back Ashton Jeanty.

Despite these challenges, Smith still has the potential to be a viable fantasy option, albeit as a low-end starter in two-QB leagues or a high-end QB3 in single-QB formats. He will be working with a receiving corps that includes dependable veteran Jakobi Meyers and the promising rookie tight end Brock Bowers. Smith's ability to complete passes efficiently – he completed 70.4% of his passes last season for 4,320 yards – remains a strong asset, even if the overall fantasy output may not be as high as in previous seasons.

In terms of draft strategy, Smith is projected to be drafted around the 156th overall pick, ranking him as the 15th quarterback in fantasy rankings. While he may not be the top-tier quarterback some might hope for, he has the tools and the supporting cast to still contribute significantly to fantasy teams. With the right expectations and a bit of patience, Geno Smith can still be a valuable addition to your fantasy roster in the 2025 season.
