Jared Goff
Detroit Lions
Season Preview
Jared Goff enters 2026 as one of fantasy football’s safest quarterback bets, because his profile has stayed remarkably steady: big passing volume, efficient production, and almost no rushing contribution. He followed up his recent run of strong seasons with another elite statistical year in 2025, finishing as the QB6 overall while throwing for 4,564 yards and 34 touchdowns, and he now has three straight seasons with at least 4,500 passing yards and 30 passing scores. FantasyPros also notes that he has strung together four consecutive 4,000-yard seasons and has not missed a game since 2021, which reinforces how stable he is as a weekly starter.
The downside is the same one Goff has carried for years: his fantasy ceiling is capped because he does very little on the ground. FantasyPros points out that he has only 195 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns over the last four seasons, which is why he often finishes outside the elite tier in points per game even when his raw totals are strong. In practical fantasy terms, that makes him more of a reliable QB2 in superflex formats or a steady fallback option in 1QB leagues than a true difference-maker at quarterback.
The good news for 2026 is that Detroit still gives him plenty to work with. Goff is expected to be supported by Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Jahmyr Gibbs, and tight end Sam LaPorta, and that surrounding talent is a major reason he keeps posting strong fantasy numbers. The latest team and fantasy notes also mention a contract restructure, which lowered his 2026 cap hit and signals that Detroit remains committed to him as its starter.
For fantasy drafters, Goff looks like the kind of quarterback you can target if you want stability without paying for elite-name value. He should remain in the top-10 conversation again in 2026 because the passing volume and weapon quality are still there, but you should not expect much week-winning rushing upside or a dramatic ceiling jump. If your roster already has high-variance stars, Goff is a smart stabilizer; if you want a quarterback to carry your fantasy team on his own, he is probably not that player.
