Indianapolis said Downs had 58 catches for 566 yards on 88 targets last year, and the team expects him to be a “significant” part of the offense in 2026 after using him in a more limited way in 2025.

That role growth matters because Downs has already shown he can be highly efficient when he gets consistent usage. FantasyPros notes that in games where Joe Flacco played at least 80% of the snaps in 2024, Downs posted a 25.7% target share, 2.38 yards per route run, and 15.5 PPR points per game, while his production dipped with Anthony Richardson under center. That split is a big reminder that Downs’ fantasy ceiling is tied to quarterback play as much as his own talent.

The good news for 2026 drafters is that the path to more targets looks real. Fantasy Life highlighted Downs as a post-hype sleeper, pointing to Michael Pittman Jr. vacating underneath and intermediate targets, Alec Pierce remaining more of a deep threat than a high-volume chain-mover, and Downs’ ability to win on a fuller route tree. In other words, there is a believable scenario where Downs becomes one of the primary target earners in Indianapolis rather than just a complementary slot option.

For fantasy purposes, Downs looks like a strong WR3/Flex target with upside into the WR2 conversation if the Colts’ offense leans more heavily on him and gets steadier quarterback play. He is not a pure breakout lock, but the combination of expanded role, strong underlying talent, and a realistic target-share path makes him a very appealing 2026 value pick, especially in PPR formats.
