Josh Jacobs

Green Bay Packers

Season Preview

Josh Jacobs remains one of the safer fantasy running backs to project for 2026, especially because he is still positioned as Green Bay’s lead back and has consistently produced strong touchdown-driven fantasy seasons with the Packers. FantasyPros notes that he has finished as the RB8 and RB9 in fantasy points per game over his two years in Green Bay, which keeps him in the top-20 conversation even before you factor in his scoring upside.

The biggest performance question is health. FantasyPros says Jacobs dealt with a knee injury last season, and that affected both his snap share and his effectiveness, while Fantasy Life also points to a slight regression in 2025 relative to his first Packers season. That matters because his workload may not be as dominant as a pure bell cow if Green Bay wants to preserve him, but the ceiling remains strong if he stays on the field and keeps handling the goal-line work.

Touchdowns are still the central reason to believe in him. FantasyPros reports that Jacobs has averaged 15 total touchdowns per season in Green Bay and has ranked highly in red-zone touches, which is exactly the kind of usage that can offset modest receiving volume in fantasy leagues. That makes him especially valuable in standard and half-PPR formats, where a 13-touchdown season can easily push him into RB1 territory even if he is not catching a huge number of passes.

There is also a recent off-field situation to monitor, since reports in late May said Jacobs was arrested, though FantasyPros noted he had denied the allegations, was not formally charged at the time, and was back at Packers OTAs shortly afterward. For fantasy drafting, the safest read is that Jacobs is a top-20 back with realistic RB1 upside, but managers should factor in both the injury risk and the possibility that this situation could affect his availability or role if it escalates.
