Kaytron Allen
Washington Commanders
Season Preview
Kaytron Allen enters 2026 as a believable fantasy dart throw because he landed with the Washington Commanders, who have a backfield that does not appear settled yet. CBS Sports says Allen is on the redraft radar in the double-digit rounds and could also be an early Round 2 rookie pick in rookie-only drafts, while FantasyPros notes that Washington’s backfield is wide open and Allen could even win the Week 1 starting job if things break his way.
The appeal starts with his profile as a tough, durable runner. Allen was a productive four-year back at Penn State, topping 1,100 rushing yards in multiple seasons and scoring at least eight touchdowns in three of four years, and CBS Sports describes him as a strong runner with underrated quickness and decision-making. Draft Sharks also highlights that he handled a heavy workload in college and brings NFL size, durability, and ball security, which should help him stay in the mix early in his pro career.
The concern is that Allen does not bring the most obvious receiving upside, which can cap his fantasy ceiling in most formats. Fantasy Life’s rookie model calls him an early-down back and warns that limited passing-game production is a real concern, even while giving him a path to short-term value in Washington. That makes him more attractive as a player who can earn carries and touchdowns than as someone likely to rack up consistent targets right away.
For 2026 fantasy drafts, Allen is best treated as a late-round upside stash in redraft and a strong value target in rookie drafts. His value rises if Washington’s backfield competition remains unsettled, especially with Jacory Croskey-Merritt and Rachaad White also in the mix, but his weekly floor will depend on whether he can carve out enough early-down and goal-line work to matter. If you want a cheaper running back with a realistic path to relevance, Allen is the kind of name worth keeping on your radar.
