Multiple fantasy outlets now project him as the Chiefs’ lead back, and that workload upgrade is the biggest reason his outlook has improved so sharply entering draft season.

The appeal is straightforward: Walker’s talent has never been the issue. FantasyPros notes that he remains an explosive runner who ranked near the top of the league in efficiency metrics, including explosive run rate and missed tackle rate, while also contributing enough in the passing game to add weekly upside. ESPN also points out that his touches were capped in Seattle, which limited his fantasy ceiling despite strong production, so a more defined lead role in Kansas City should help unlock more consistent RB1 value.

The biggest thing to watch is health. Walker has dealt with injury issues in each of his first three NFL seasons, and ESPN specifically flags that durability as the main reason he is not yet a fully “safe” fantasy pick even in a better situation. That matters because Kansas City could still add a receiving back or spell him on passing downs, which would keep him from becoming a true every-down workhorse.

For fantasy managers, Walker looks like a strong target in 2026 redraft leagues if you want a back with RB1 upside and real touchdown potential in a better offense.
