Kyle Pitts
Atlanta Falcons
Season Preview
As we approach the 2025 fantasy football season, Kyle Pitts, the highly touted tight end of the Atlanta Falcons, finds himself in an intriguing and somewhat uncertain position. Despite being the fourth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and having a stellar rookie season with over 1,000 receiving yards, Pitts has not quite lived up to the fantasy expectations in the subsequent years. In 2024, he started strong, with 29 catches for 419 yards and three touchdowns in the first eight weeks, but his production significantly dropped in the second half of the season, leaving him with a disappointing overall performance.
One of the key factors affecting Pitts' fantasy value has been the consistent changes and inconsistencies at the quarterback position. He has played with a multitude of quarterbacks, including Matt Ryan, Marcus Mariota, Desmond Ridder, Taylor Heinicke, Kirk Cousins, and now Michael Penix Jr. This lack of stability has made it challenging for Pitts to develop a solid rapport and maintain consistent production. However, with Michael Penix Jr. at the helm for the 2025 season, there is a glimmer of hope that Pitts could rediscover his form and become a reliable fantasy asset.
The Falcons' offensive strategy also played a significant role in Pitts' diminished fantasy value in 2024. The team's increased focus on running back Bijan Robinson led to more usage of run-blocking tight end Charlie Woerner, reducing Pitts' playing time and opportunities. As we head into the 2025 season, it remains to be seen whether the Falcons will adjust their strategy to better utilize Pitts' unique skills.
Given his talent and the potential for a new quarterback to spark a turnaround, Kyle Pitts is still worth considering in fantasy drafts, albeit as a late-round pick rather than an early-round investment. His upside is undeniable, and if he can establish a strong connection with Michael Penix Jr., he could once again perform like a starting fantasy tight end. While the past few seasons have been frustrating for fantasy managers, there is reason for optimism that Pitts could finally break through and meet the high expectations that have followed him since his rookie year.
