Kyren Williams
Los Angeles Rams
Season Preview
Kyren Williams enters the 2025 fantasy football season as the Los Angeles Rams' established lead running back, continuing to showcase his reliability and solid production. After finishing the 2023 season with Pro Bowl-level stats—and despite missing four games due to injury—Williams secured his role with a strong 2024 campaign, tallying 81.2 rushing yards per game and 16 total touchdowns. His vision and elusiveness remain his standout traits, although he lacks breakaway speed, which slightly limits his ceiling.
Despite new competition from rookie Jarquez Hunter, Williams’ position atop the Rams’ backfield appears secure for 2025. The Rams made it clear they trust him by signing a three-year contract extension worth $33 million in August 2025. This commitment indicates Williams will continue to work as a bellcow back, getting the majority of touches, especially near the red zone — a role suited to his consistent, touchdown-producing style. While Hunter and backup Blake Corum may see some work, Williams’ workload will remain heavy, and his fantasy value strong, particularly as a back-end RB1.
One concern for Williams is his efficiency metrics, which have declined recently. He ranked 30th in running back success rate last year and fell in explosive run rate rankings, which may signify fewer big plays and explosive runs compared to earlier seasons. Injuries have also been a factor in his career, including missing significant time his rookie year and some games in 2023. However, he has so far maintained health during offseason and preseason activities, which bodes well for availability going forward.
For fantasy managers, Williams is a dependable option who should return solid weekly production in 2025, making him very attractive as a mid-to-late first-round pick or a strong value pick early in the second round depending on your league format. His usage and touchdown upside in an offense that remains competitive make him one of the safer running back picks. However, those seeking explosive, high-upside runners might look elsewhere, given Williams’ more methodical, volume-based style and slight injury history. Overall, expect Williams to be a top-15 back with high-floor, solid fantasy returns throughout the season.
