QB

Mason Rudolph

Pittsburgh Steelers

Season Preview

As we head into the 2025 fantasy football season, Mason Rudolph's role is quite clear: he will be serving as the backup quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Following the team's signing of Aaron Rodgers, Rudolph is positioned behind one of the most accomplished quarterbacks in the league, which significantly limits his fantasy value for the upcoming season.

Rudolph's recent performance with the Tennessee Titans in 2024 showed glimpses of his potential, particularly in games where he started. He managed to score at least 18.4 fantasy points in three of his five starts, including a notable performance where he scored 26.2 PPR points against a tough New England defense. However, these performances are now overshadowed by his backup role in Pittsburgh.

For fantasy managers, Mason Rudolph is not a quarterback worth drafting in most leagues, given his current status. His value is minimal unless there is an injury to Aaron Rodgers, which would then potentially elevate Rudolph to a starting role. Even then, he would be more of a waiver wire pickup rather than a draft-day selection. In deeper Superflex and two-quarterback leagues, he might be considered as a desperation QB2, but that's about the extent of his fantasy relevance for now.

In summary, while Mason Rudolph has shown he can perform well when given the opportunity, his backup role with the Steelers makes him a non-priority in fantasy drafts for the 2025 season. Keep an eye on the Steelers' quarterback situation, but for now, Rudolph is not a player you should be targeting unless circumstances change dramatically.
