Season Preview

As we head into the 2025 fantasy football season, Mason Rudolph is poised to be a significant figure in the Pittsburgh Steelers' quarterback landscape. Following his return to the Steelers this offseason, Rudolph has been working with the first-team offense during OTAs, a clear indication that the starting quarterback job is his to lose.

Rudolph's experience and familiarity with the Steelers organization are major positives. He was drafted by the Steelers in the third round in 2018 and has shown flashes of potential during his time with both the Steelers and the Tennessee Titans. Last year with the Titans, he completed 64 percent of his passes for 1,530 yards, nine touchdowns, and nine interceptions. This performance, combined with his good chemistry with receiver George Pickens, makes him a viable option for the Steelers' starting role.

However, it's important to note that the Steelers are still weighing their options and are particularly interested in acquiring Aaron Rodgers. If Rodgers joins the team, Rudolph would likely revert to a backup role. Yet, as things stand currently, Rudolph is the front-runner to be the Week 1 starter, ahead of internal competition from Skylar Thompson and rookie Will Howard.

From a fantasy perspective, while Rudolph may not offer the high upside that a quarterback like Aaron Rodgers would, he can still be a serviceable option. He is expected to manage the game effectively, though his fantasy value is likely to be limited to being a QB2. His performance will be heavily influenced by the run-heavy nature of the Steelers' offense, which was the fourth most run-heavy group in the league last season. Therefore, if you're looking for a late-round quarterback pick or a streamer, Mason Rudolph could be a reliable choice, but don't expect him to be a game-changer in your fantasy lineup.
