Mason Taylor enters the 2026 fantasy football season as a player with real talent but an uncertain weekly ceiling. He flashed as a rookie with the Jets, leading the team in catches with 44 for 369 yards and one touchdown, but he also missed the final four games with a neck injury, and that missed time is a reminder that durability matters here.

The biggest issue for his fantasy outlook is competition. New York drafted tight end Kenyon Sadiq in the first round, and that addition makes Taylor much harder to project as a clear-volume fantasy starter, since the Jets now have two tight ends who can realistically take targets from each other. Even so, Aaron Glenn has publicly said he expects Taylor to take a “big step” and have a “hell of a year,” which suggests the coaching staff still sees an expanded role for him.

That mix of optimism and target competition leaves Taylor as more of a mid-round or late-round upside pick than a safe every-week option. FantasyPros’ 2026 projection is modest at 41.7 catches, 346.1 yards, and 2.6 touchdowns, which is useful for context because it shows the market expects him to be productive, but not necessarily a volume-driven breakout. His best-case path is probably red-zone efficiency and better scoring luck, since he managed only one touchdown despite showing strong catch skills and frequent contested-catch ability as a rookie.

In fantasy drafts, Taylor makes the most sense as a TE2 with upside, especially in formats that reward touchdowns or allow deeper benches. If you want a safer weekly starter, there are better options, but if you’re chasing a second-year jump from a young tight end in an offense that still may lean on him near the goal line, Taylor is a reasonable bet to make.
