Michael Pittman
Indianapolis Colts
Season Preview
As we approach the 2025 fantasy football season, Michael Pittman Jr. is a name that should be on every fantasy owner's radar, particularly given his recent health updates and past performance. Despite dealing with a fractured bone in his lower back for much of the 2024 season, Pittman managed to play through the injury and still put up respectable numbers, including 69 catches for 808 yards and three touchdowns across 16 games.
The good news for fantasy owners is that Pittman has been fully cleared by doctors after his back injury. An MRI revealed the fracture, but it has since fully healed, and he did not require offseason surgery. This is a significant relief, as back injuries involving discs or soft tissue can be more prone to reinjury, but in Pittman's case, the fracture has healed well.
Recently, Pittman had a minor scare during an OTA practice in early June when he collided knees with a teammate and had to leave the field. However, reports indicate that he did not suffer a serious injury and was back participating fully for the mandatory minicamp. This quick recovery suggests that Pittman is ready to go for the upcoming season without any major concerns.
Given his health status and historical performance, Pittman enters the 2025 season as the Colts' WR1. His ability to produce high volume and yards after catch, which was somewhat hampered by his back injury in 2024, is expected to return. With a fully healed back and no significant current injuries, Pittman presents a strong combination of safety and upside, making him a valuable pick in fantasy drafts, especially in later rounds where his current ADP places him.
