WR

Mike Evans

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Season Preview

Mike Evans enters the 2025 fantasy football season as a reliable and productive wide receiver despite turning 32 this year. His role as the primary target in Tampa Bay's passing game remains intact, with the offense largely unchanged from the previous year. The main new element is the addition of rookie WR Emeka Egbuka, who will share some targets but is not expected to dramatically reduce Evans' volume. Last season, Evans displayed elite route efficiency, being targeted on more than 28% of routes run, which underscores his continued role as a focal point of the offense.

Evans is coming off a strong 2024 campaign where he tallied over 1,000 receiving yards and finished as the WR11 in PPR scoring, maintaining his streak of 1,000-yard seasons. Although he missed some time early last year due to injury, he bounced back to become the undisputed top receiver post-bye week. His production from Weeks 12 to 18 was impressive (48 receptions, 669 yards, five touchdowns), proving he's still capable of delivering WR1-type weeks. The Buccaneers will strive to ensure he reaches another 1,000-yard season if he stays healthy.

In terms of injury concerns, Evans has experienced some hamstring issues over the past few seasons but has managed to play in at least 14 games each year. This durability makes him a relatively safe fantasy asset. In 2024, he ran about 83% of his routes despite missing three games, and his key efficiency metrics—such as yards per route run and separation—ranked among the best in the league, indicating his ability to create separation and pick up yardage even as he ages. These factors support confidence that he can continue to be a high-end WR2 with upside for more.

Fantasy rankings have Evans going in the mid-to-late second round in many leagues for 2025, currently around WR19 by average draft position. While competition from Emeka Egbuka and the recovering Chris Godwin might limit some of his upside, Evans remains a cornerstone in the Buccaneers' passing attack. His consistent touchdown production, target share, and ability to yield big games against tough competition make him one of the safer bets to deliver reliable fantasy points well into his 30s. Overall, Mike Evans is a confident WR1/2 option for the season ahead.
