Omarion Hampton

Los Angeles Chargers

Season Preview

Omarion Hampton enters the 2026 fantasy football season as one of the most exciting young running backs in the league, and the profile is built around both production and opportunity. After missing part of his rookie year with an ankle injury, he still showed enough in his healthy stretches to make a strong fantasy case, and the buzz around him has only grown this spring. Analysts are treating him as a potential breakout candidate, with upside into the RB1 range if he stays on the field and keeps the lead role.

The biggest reason to like Hampton is the role. Reports out of the Chargers’ spring work suggest he is positioned to get the largest share of the backfield work, and the offense around him looks more favorable than it did a year ago. The team has also upgraded its offensive line, which matters a lot for a runner whose value comes from both volume and efficiency. Fantasy analysts have pointed to the fit in Los Angeles as a major plus, especially if the Chargers keep leaning on him as a true all-purpose back rather than a committee piece.

From a fantasy standpoint, Hampton offers a very appealing mix of floor and ceiling. In the small healthy sample we saw last season, he produced strong rushing and receiving usage, and that dual-threat profile makes him more valuable in PPR formats. If he stays healthy, a 1,000-yard season is a realistic baseline outcome, and the upside goes higher than that because his receiving involvement gives him multiple paths to weekly fantasy relevance.

The main risk is still health, since his ankle injury already interrupted his rookie momentum and could be the one thing that prevents him from fully breaking out. But if you are drafting for 2026, Hampton looks like the kind of player who can reward managers willing to bet on talent, role, and team context. He belongs firmly in the RB1 conversation, and his ceiling is high enough that he could end the season as one of the best value picks at the position.
