Oronde Gadsden

Oronde Gadsden enters the 2026 fantasy football season as one of the more intriguing but also more complicated tight end names on the board. After a strong rookie year with 49 catches for 664 yards and three touchdowns in 15 games, he showed real breakout ability, including a four-game stretch in which he posted 24 catches for 377 yards and two scores and briefly paced all fantasy tight ends in scoring.

The big fantasy question is opportunity, and that is less clear now than it was a few months ago. The Chargers added blocking TE Charlie Kolar and then signed David Njoku in May, which created a much more crowded tight end room and raised concern that Gadsden may not get the same weekly volume he flashed as a rookie. Even so, the team’s new offensive setup under Mike McDaniel appears designed to use multiple tight ends heavily, and the Chargers have emphasized that Gadsden’s receiving skill set gives him a chance to operate in a role that fits his strengths.

From a pure fantasy perspective, Gadsden still has upside because his profile is built on efficiency and receiving talent rather than touchdown dependence. The Chargers pointed out that he ranked among the better tight ends in yards per route run and averaged 13.6 yards per catch last season, which supports the idea that he can produce on fewer targets if his role is meaningful. FantasyPros also projects him for 47.2 catches, 587.3 yards, and 3.4 touchdowns in 2026, which is useful midrange TE production but not quite the type of workload that makes him a locked-in weekly starter.

The best way to treat Gadsden in 2026 redraft is as a high-upside TE2 with some weekly spike-game appeal, not as a safe every-week starter. Fantasy analysts have him around TE11, with some willing to draft him as high as TE9, which feels fair given his age, athleticism, and the possibility that Justin Herbert leans on him as a middle-of-the-field weapon. If you want ceiling at tight end and are willing to accept some role uncertainty, Gadsden is a strong late-round target.
