Quinshon Judkins
Cleveland Browns
Season Preview
Quinshon Judkins enters the 2025 fantasy football season as a high-upside rookie running back for the Cleveland Browns, fully cleared to play after legal concerns earlier in the summer were resolved without charges. This is significant because he was once thought to possibly miss time due to an NFL investigation related to a July misdemeanor battery allegation–but prosecutors declined to proceed with the case, citing lack of evidence and independent witnesses. Judkins is now expected to sign his rookie contract soon and be ready to compete for meaningful snaps from Week 1.
From a talent perspective, Judkins is a powerful, efficient runner with a history of solid production in college. In his final season before the draft, he shared carries but maintained strong efficiency, rushing for 1,060 yards and 14 touchdowns on just 194 attempts. While not a prolific pass-catcher, he has shown reliability and toughness at the collegiate level, and scouts see him as an early-down back capable of handling a heavy workload. His speed may not be elite, but his blend of power and vision makes him an intriguing lead back candidate for the Browns.
Fantasy managers should be mindful that while Judkins looks poised to challenge Jerome Ford and rookie Dylan Sampson for the lead role, some uncertainty remains. Although the legal issues appear settled for now, the NFL investigation could still lead to a suspension at an unknown point in the season. For now, Judkins is a strong mid-round pick with RB2 upside if he takes over the Cleveland backfield early and avoids disciplinary setbacks. His rookie ramp-up may take a few weeks, but his talent profile makes him one of the more exciting rookie backs to stash in dynasty and redraft formats.
His absence from some of training camp and preseason carries due to legal distractions might mean a slight slower start, but he should be able to catch up with some reps in the final weeks leading to the season opener. Meanwhile, Jerome Ford’s value has been downgraded in fantasy circles, as Judkins emerges as the more dynamic and promising option when healthy and active. Overall, the situation turned around dramatically in August, making Judkins a potential steal for 2025 fantasy seasons if he nails down the Browns’ lead back job and stays on the field.
