Rachaad White

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Season Preview

As we approach the 2025 fantasy football season, Rachaad White's role in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' backfield has become clearer, albeit with some nuances. After being drafted in the fifth round to initially serve as Leonard Fournette's backup, White saw significant playing time in 2024, particularly when Fournette's performance waned. However, the landscape has shifted with Bucky Irving now taking over as the primary early-down back, relegating White to a secondary role.

Despite this change, White remains a valuable asset in fantasy football. In the latter part of the 2024 season, from Weeks 10-17, White averaged 13.5 touches and 68.4 total yards per game, positioning him as the RB18 in fantasy points per game. His efficiency actually improved with a reduced workload, as evidenced by his rankings in missed tackles forced per attempt, yards after contact per attempt, and yards per route run.

For the 2025 season, White is projected to serve as the passing-down back, complementing Bucky Irving's early-down duties. This role could still yield RB3 or flex value, especially given the Buccaneers' potent offense. White's ability to contribute in both rushing and receiving capacities makes him a solid mid-round draft pick, even if he won't be the bell-cow back he was at times in 2024.

It's also worth noting that White has hinted on social media that this could be his final season with the Buccaneers, which might add a layer of motivation but doesn't necessarily impact his immediate fantasy value. As the passing-down specialist, White will still have opportunities to make significant contributions, making him a reliable choice for fantasy teams looking for a versatile running back.
