RJ Harvey enters the 2026 fantasy football season as a talented but volatile Broncos back whose value depends heavily on how Denver’s backfield shakes out. He is still being drafted as a useful RB3/FLEX type in the middle rounds, but recent offseason moves have made his workload projection less secure than it looked earlier in the year.

The biggest change is Denver’s crowded running back room. CBS Sports notes that the Broncos’ selection of Jonah Coleman could push this into more of a committee, potentially affecting Harvey’s goal-line work or even reducing his early-down role if J.K. Dobbins misses time. Fantasy Football Calculator also reports that Denver re-signed Dobbins and drafted Coleman, which creates real competition for touches and makes an every-down role for Harvey unlikely right now.

Harvey’s upside is still tied to efficiency and receiving volume. He was productive enough as a rookie to keep fantasy managers interested, but the concern is that his weekly ceiling may depend on injuries ahead of him rather than a locked-in feature-back workload. That makes him more of a value pick in the sixth round range than a player to aggressively target earlier, especially in formats where committee backs are harder to trust.

For 2026, the cleanest read is that Harvey is a strong talent in a murky situation. If the Broncos’ backfield stays healthy, his role could be capped and frustrating; if Dobbins misses time or Harvey earns a larger passing-game share, he can quickly pay off his draft price. At the moment, he looks like a player worth drafting for upside, but not one to count on as a safe every-week starter.
