Tank Bigsby

Philadelphia Eagles

Season Preview

Tank Bigsby enters the 2026 fantasy football season with a very different outlook after being traded from Jacksonville to Philadelphia. The move matters a lot for fantasy because he is no longer in a crowded Jaguars backfield; instead, he is now viewed as the primary handcuff behind Saquon Barkley, with Philadelphia’s backfield depth also affected by the Eagles’ other injuries and role changes.

Bigsby’s appeal is still built on efficiency and power, not passing-game volume. FantasyPros noted that among 65 qualifying backs last year, he ranked fourth in explosive run rate, second in missed tackle rate, and first in yards after contact per attempt, and he flashed real ceiling in Week 18 with 17 touches for 106 total yards as the RB9 in PPR when he saw more work. That profile makes him interesting as a stash even if his weekly floor stays low, because his best path to value is a bigger workload caused by injury ahead of him.

In Philadelphia, the role is straightforward: while Barkley is healthy, Bigsby is unlikely to offer reliable weekly starting value, but he becomes a strong contingency play if Barkley misses time. CBS Sports explicitly described him as the handcuff to Barkley, and added that he would be a potential fantasy lottery ticket if thrust into a starting role. That kind of role is especially important in deeper leagues and best-ball formats, where single-injury upside can matter more than week-to-week usability.

For 2026 drafts, Bigsby should be treated as a late-round bench pick rather than a player you expect to start often right away. If you roster Barkley, Bigsby is a logical insurance add; if you do not, he is still worth a look because his talent profile and the Eagles’ offense give him meaningful upside in a sudden starting scenario. In short, his season value will mostly depend on whether Barkley stays healthy, but the trade to Philadelphia has raised Bigsby’s handcuff appeal considerably.
