Tank Dell enters 2026 as one of the more interesting late-round fantasy bets, because the talent is obvious but the health question still drives everything. Before his knee injury, he had already shown explosive playmaking ability and a real connection with C.J. Stroud, but he missed all of 2025 after suffering major ligament damage in his left knee and needing multiple surgeries.

The good news is that the latest reports point to real progress. Dell has been working back in offseason activities, including team drills at OTAs, and Texans coach DeMeco Ryans said he was excited to see Dell back for the 2026 season. Even so, he is still not a lock to be full-go immediately, and recent reports have said Houston is being cautious and that his status will need to be monitored through training camp.

From a fantasy perspective, Dell profiles as a high-upside but risky bench pick rather than someone you should count on as an early starter. Some analysts have him in deep-sleeper territory with an ADP in the late rounds, while others still view him as the only Texans receiver from this group who is clearly draftable in standard redraft leagues. The range of outcomes is wide: if he is healthy and looks like his old explosive self, he can absolutely beat his cost, but if the recovery lingers, his early-season role could be limited.

The Texans’ passing game context also matters. Houston appears set to keep a crowded receiver room, and one recent outlook notes that the team’s receiving corps is largely intact, which means Dell may need time to reclaim a major target share. In drafts, I’d treat him as a volatile upside stash with league-winning talent in the back of the profile, but with enough injury risk that you should not pay for a full bounce-back until you see proof in games.
