TreVeyon Henderson enters the 2026 fantasy football season as one of the more polarizing running backs, but the upside case is still very real. He is coming off a rookie season in New England in which he totaled 1,132 yards, scored 10 touchdowns, and added 35 receptions, showing the kind of dual-threat profile that can matter in PPR formats.

The main reason for caution is role certainty, not talent. Multiple recent previews note that Rhamondre Stevenson remains entrenched in the Patriots’ backfield and is not expected to be cut or moved, which makes Henderson more of a strong complementary option than a locked-in every-down starter right now. FantasyPros describes Henderson as best viewed as an upside RB3, while other analysts argue that his current draft cost already bakes in a lot of optimism about a bigger second-year workload.

That said, Henderson still has a path to beating his ADP if his efficiency improves or if the Patriots simply decide to feature his explosiveness more often. Fantasy Life noted that he is already going near pick 45 in early 2026 best ball drafts, and that kind of price reflects real breakout belief even though his 2025 usage was uneven. If New England gives him more passing-game work and a larger share of high-leverage touches, he has the profile to return strong fantasy value even without a full bell-cow role.

For 2026 drafts, Henderson is the kind of player I’d target as a ceiling play rather than a floor pick. He looks most appealing in the RB2/RB3 range in PPR or best ball formats, where his receiving work and touchdown upside can swing weeks, but the Stevenson presence keeps him from being a truly safe draft-day investment.
