Early 2026 fantasy analysis has him going as RB43, with the idea that he is the likely favorite to lead the Cardinals’ backfield if James Conner is moved on from or reduced by age and injury concerns.

The biggest factor for Benson’s outlook is that the Cardinals’ backfield is still not fully settled. Conner is returning from a brutal foot/ankle injury and has also been discussed as a possible cap casualty, which would save Arizona about $8 million if the team releases him. That makes Benson more than just a handcuff; he has a real chance to open the year with a starting path, especially if the Cardinals do not add significant backfield competition before the season.

Benson’s own injury history is the main reason his draft cost is still suppressed. He suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 4 last year, and that concern is already reflected in his current price, but the upside case is clear if he is healthy. In his limited action last season, he posted 29 carries for 160 yards and added 13 catches for 64 yards, which does not scream breakout on its own, but it does show enough receiving involvement to matter in fantasy if his workload expands.

For 2026 drafts, Benson is best viewed as a strong upside RB3 or bench stash with contingent RB2 potential rather than a locked-in every-week starter.
