RB

Tyrone Tracy

New York Giants

Season Preview

Tyrone Tracy enters the 2025 fantasy football season as the New York Giants’ clear lead running back, coming off a solid 2024 campaign where he rushed for 839 yards and scored five touchdowns, while also contributing 284 yards and a receiving touchdown through the air. After starting the year behind Devin Singletary, Tracy took over the starting role in Week 5 and managed to become a consistent factor despite some early growing pains with ball security. His ability to contribute in both the rushing and passing game adds notable value to fantasy squads, particularly as a dependable RB2 or flex option in many formats.

The Giants’ offense, however, remains a concern, as they ranked near the bottom of the league in scoring last year. This limits the upside for any offensive player, including Tracy. The team has undergone some quarterback changes and added a rookie running back, Cam Skattebo, in the fourth round of the 2025 draft. Skattebo’s arrival creates competition in the backfield, but his injury issues during training camp have delayed his impact, allowing Tracy to hold onto the starting job for now. Tracy's ability to secure early-down carries and maintain ball control will be crucial to keeping his role amid this competition.

One potential red flag for fantasy managers is the possibility that Skattebo could eventually take over goal-line duties, which may limit Tracy’s touchdown upside. Given the Giants’ projected struggles on offense, a reduction in Tracy’s scoring chances would dampen his overall fantasy value. Still, at current draft costs, Tracy offers a stable floor with upside — especially early in the season when Skattebo is still finding his footing. Managers targeting Tracy as an RB3 who needs early production while taking fliers on rookies should feel comfortable drafting him with moderate expectations.

Injuries have slightly clouded the picture, mainly around Skattebo’s hamstring troubles, which ironically could benefit Tracy’s early-season workload. Tracy himself has not been flagged with any significant injuries and is expected to be the bell cow for the Giants to start 2025. The main risk for Tracy remains his past issues with fumbling and the persistent downward pressure from new competition. Ultimately, his solid skill set and expanded role on an improving offense might see him surprise a few fantasy owners willing to bet on his steady production throughout the season.
