Season Preview

The Texans enter 2026 with a strong fantasy foundation built around C.J. Stroud, Nico Collins, and a potentially more balanced offense, but the picture has changed in camp with key roster moves and injuries that matter for draft and lineup decisions. The biggest recent fantasy headline is the loss of rookie wideout Jayden Higgins to injured reserve with a knee issue, which boosts the weekly outlook for Collins and makes the rest of the receiver room more important than it looked a few weeks ago.

Stroud remains the safest Houston fantasy piece because the team still appears committed to building around him, and the offense should have enough pass-catching talent to support another useful QB season. Nico Collins should again profile as the clear alpha target and the best Texans receiver to draft, while Tank Dell is much harder to trust after the latest knee concern listed on the injury report, making him more of a stash than a dependable early-season starter.

At running back, the Texans’ backfield is more of a volume-and-role play than a pure upside gold mine, so managers should treat it carefully in drafts and in weekly lineup choices. The depth chart and camp projections suggest Houston has multiple bodies in the mix, but no runaway elite fantasy anchor at the position, which keeps the ceiling modest unless one runner separates during preseason and early games.

Tight end also looks serviceable rather than exciting, with Dalton Schultz still the best bet for steady involvement, and Brevin Jordan’s knee issue adding a little more uncertainty to the depth behind him. Overall, Houston looks like a solid fantasy offense with a reliable QB1 candidate and one top-tier receiver, but the recent injuries to Higgins and Dell make Collins even more valuable while pushing the secondary options into deeper-league territory.
