T.J. Hockenson enters the 2026 fantasy football season as a rebound candidate, but not quite as a set-it-and-forget-it elite tight end. The latest reports say Minnesota restructured his contract this offseason, so he remains with the Vikings, and early fantasy analysis has him pegged more as a value pick than a star after a disappointing 2025 campaign.

The biggest reason for optimism is that Hockenson is further removed from the serious knee injury that helped derail his prior production, and he’s now another year healthier heading into the season. FantasyLife notes that he was still productive before the injury, finishing as the TE2 in PPR points per game in 2023 despite unstable quarterback play, which shows the ceiling is still there when his health and usage line up.

The concern is opportunity. Minnesota’s passing offense still appears built around Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, and Hockenson’s 2025 numbers were described as career-worst in both counting stats and efficiency, with FantasyLife saying he finished as fantasy’s TE27 and topped 50 yards only twice. Footballguys is similarly cautious, suggesting his ceiling looks more like 60-65 catches, 550-650 yards, and four or five touchdowns, which makes him more of a steady-but-unexciting fantasy option than a difference-maker.

For 2026 drafts, Hockenson looks like a low-end TE1 or strong TE2 depending on league size and scoring. If you want a tight end with a plausible path back to top-10 production, he’s a reasonable target, but if you draft him, you should do it expecting volume-based stability rather than a full return to his elite 2022-2023 peak.
