Philadelphia Eagles
NFC East | Bye Week: 9
Season Preview
The Philadelphia Eagles head into the 2025 NFL season poised to defend their title with a strong and relatively stable roster. Quarterback Jalen Hurts, fresh off his Super Bowl MVP performance, remains the centerpiece, entering his age-27 season with a proven track record as both a passer and an elite rushing threat. Hurts has consistently delivered double-digit rushing touchdowns over the past four seasons and is expected to lead the league again in that category, making him a tremendous fantasy asset and team leader. The Eagles’ offensive core remains largely intact, featuring top weapons like A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Jahan Dotson, providing Hurts with a balanced and dynamic receiving corps.
At running back, the Eagles made a notable adjustment by adding Saquon Barkley, replacing Miles Sanders. Barkley joins AJ Dillon and promising rookie Will Shipley in a stable backfield group. Dillon is coming off a full offseason healthy, having missed all of last season due to a neck injury, while Shipley offers a valuable receiving skillset out of the backfield. This revamped backfield should ease the workload on Hurts, allowing Philadelphia to maintain a balanced attack while still unleashing Hurts’ scrambling ability in key short-yardage and goal-line situations.
Defensively, the Eagles faced some departures in key spots with veterans like cornerback Darius Slay, edge rusher Josh Sweat, and safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson moving on. This opened competition at these positions, but the team’s defense under coordinator Vic Fangio remains a critical piece in their quest for sustained success. The roster competition will be interesting to watch, especially behind the starting wide receivers, but the team’s depth and coaching continuity provide a solid foundation.
From a fantasy perspective, Dallas Goedert at tight end appears undervalued and could be a sleeper as the Seahawks’ passing game stays potent despite the lack of headline-grabbing attention. Special teams have also improved, with kicker Jake Elliott overcoming a tough 2024 season where he struggled on long field goals and now showing healthier form through training camp. Overall, the Eagles balance youthful talent and veteran leadership well, positioning them for another deep playoff run in 2025 with multiple fantasy-relevant players poised to shine.
